LEVEL 1 INTRODUCTORY TRAINING

An Evidence Based Practice?

  • Moving Pieces is an approach that combines embodied, creative, trauma informed ways of working with performance practice.

  • Research into the efficacy of the Moving Pieces approach for people living with medically unexplained symptoms was completed in 2025.

  • The process involved 14 months of practice-based research and gathering of data for a range of outcomes including physiological markers of heart rate variability (HRV), interoception scores, individual/ group testimonial and performative practice.

  • The research was based on an interdisciplinary feminist perspective with particular interest in the potential for the approach to support regulation of the nervous system, safe connection to symptoms and multilayered storytelling to reveal implicit memory and life experience. Moving Pieces is excited to announce that we will be offering a Level 1 Training in the Moving Pieces approach which will run in 2026 over four weekends.

Who is the Training for?

  • For therapists and counsellors already working with clients who are interested in enriching their practice with trauma informed, embodied, creative and performative practice. Performative practice includes consideration of the impact of the therapist as a witness to a client’s creative process.
